Provo, Utah—eTAGZ settled its legal action against Woods Wise Products, a Franklin, Tennessee company that produces hunting calls for various wildlife animals. The settlement allows Woods Wise to continue using an instructional DVD with its popular products under license to eTAGZ, designates eTAGZ as the company’s sole manufacturer for such DVDs and compensation to eTAGZ for past infringement. Isaac Jacobson, CEO of eTAGZ, said "With recent favorable decisions by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, many companies that are infringing or have infringed eTAGZs’s patents realize the benefit of settling now. First, they avoid the cost of protracted litigation. Second, they realize that they can likely secure better terms today than if the USPTO ultimately re-issues our patents with even stronger claims and over all claims of prior art. "
Jacobson is known for his successful business ventures, public speaking events, and consultations with well-known companies such as Digonex Technologies, Humanizing Technologies, and OpenBook among others. He has also recently joined the Utah Valley University foundation board.
"Increasing settlements establish the strength of eTagz Patent Portfolio and the innovation and ready application of its technology. eTAGZ will continue to aggressively protect its intellectual property rights against infringers."
Woods Wise is the latest of several companies which are continuing business with eTAGZ through settlement.
Sean Reyes, General Counsel for eTAGZ and a candidate for Utah Attorney General in 2012, states "eTAGZ is pleased with the outcome of this agreement. Woods Wise is a good corporate citizen that has recognized its past infringement, properly compensated eTAGZ and will be a valued partner moving forward."
